Adapter to realtime SAP Data Structures

Most of the "relevant" data in commercial data processing resides in SAP Business Suite Systems. Traditionally this data is loaded in SAP's Business Warehouse (BW) for further storage, cleansing, analytics..... Old school, but very prevalent in the corporate world.

Why don't we add connectors to SAP systems - the APIs are public. Licensing set aside, Data Science will benefit from all the transactional data (sales orders, purchase orders, invoices, ..... 100's and 1000's of objects)

+1 - Makes logical sense. Massive amounts of data in locked in appliances and such in memory/columnar warehouses (like Netezza and IIAS from our side). For on prem, this is bread and butter for any enterprise (BI, Data science are consumers). And I have now 3 requests. one of my large geographically distributed enterprise customer is challenging us  / showing how Alteryx can easily avail SAP BW and make it simple to connect/ prepare/munge/predict  against... and we are doing a POC for this customer (Watson Studio Local/SPSS for WSL.  Custom JDBC wont cut it because the add ons like Dashboard and SPSS Modeler within Watson Studio cannot leverage them due to limitation. And the addons themselves cannot go after these data sources independently when within Watson Studio. This is a huge  limitation as well

There is a 3rd party which provides quite seamless integration into SAP Data, be it Business Suite, or OLAP (BW)... it's Q-nnect. It's worthwhile looking at them, they also offered to help us integrated SAP with Watson Data Studio
